Missing teeth make a smile look unattractive, but they can also cause problems with chewing and speaking. Remaining teeth may shift out of place to compensate for the work of biting and chewing. To replace one or more missing teeth in a row, Dr. Villani or Dr. Kondrat may recommend a dental bridge.
Aptly named, a dental bridge literally bridges the gap. Replacement teeth in a bridge are set between two dental crowns, called abutment crowns. The crowns attach to healthy teeth and hold the bridge securely in place. As a fixed prosthetic, dental bridges are not removable.
