Composite Dental Fillings
We are very fortunate today to have durable, safe dental materials that imitate nature. At Brighton Family Dental Group, our dentists repair dental cavities with composite resin instead of dark amalgam. Each filling is custom tinted to blend with surrounding tooth structure. This means you’ll enjoy a white, beautiful smile, even after you’ve had fillings placed.
In addition to looking natural, composite resin contains no heavy metals. Dental amalgam, however, has long come under scrutiny because it contains low levels of mercury, which is hazardous to humans. Today, the American Dental Association and the Food and Drug Administration warn people with mercury sensitivity, as well as pregnant mothers and young children, not to have amalgam fillings placed.
Not sure if you’re sensitive to mercury? We only use composite fillings, so you don’t have to worry about it!
